We are a Veteran-led community that uses gaming, recreation, and "Whole Health" practices to keep Veterans connected. Think of us as a modern-day VFW or American Legion, but built around controllers, strategy games, and proactive mental resilience instead of bar stools.
Not at all. Whether you’re a competitive esports player, a casual Mario Kart fan, or someone who prefers a quiet game of chess, there’s a place for you. Gaming is just our "handshake"—the real goal is the camaraderie.
No. We are non-clinical. While we incorporate "Grounding" (mindfulness and breathwork) and "Growth" (mentorship), we are a peer-support community. We aren't doctors; we’re Veterans who know that staying connected is the best way to stay healthy.
Zero. Our mission is to remove barriers, not create them. Thanks to our donors and partners, our events and "Pathway" programs are free for Veterans.
Absolutely. The "Veteran Pathway" is designed to support you regardless of where you are in your transition. If you’ve worn the uniform, you’re welcome here.
Actually, it’s the opposite. Our current motto is Connection Before Crisis. We want you here when things are going well so that if things ever get heavy, you already have a tribe standing behind you
n the service, we were trained to keep our heads on a swivel. "Grounding" is just the tactical version of that for your internal state. We use simple breathing and focus techniques to help you "downshift" from stress and stay present
We’ve got your back. Part of our SUSTAIN stage involves resource navigation. If you need help with benefits or professional mental health services, we can help bridge that gap and connect you with the right people.
When I took off the uniform, the hardest part wasn't the loss of the job—it was the loss of the unit. Like many of you, I found that civilian life lacked the rhythm, the stakes, and the brothers and sisters I could count on. The "clinical" solutions offered to us often felt like they were trying to fix a broken machine rather than supporting a human being.
I started Hellfish Haven because I realized we shouldn't have to be in a state of emergency to deserve a community.
We built this "Haven" to be the bridge. We use gaming and recreation not just as a distraction, but as a way to speak our language again. We use mindfulness not as a "soft skill," but as a tactical tool for internal regulation. Most importantly, we do it together.
At Hellfish Haven, our mission is simple: Connection Before Crisis. You aren't a case number here. You’re a member of the tribe.
Welcome to the unit.
